We here at The Sunless Country are huge advocates of the sun’s powerful life giving energy. We believe that proper sun exposure is not only healthy, but essential to human life and internal organ function. Sure you can live without sun exposure but you will be depleted of a vital vitamin that harvests life and fights off diseases and wards off cancer and mental illness.
We feel as though sun exposure is something that’s good for the mind, body and the soul. What The Sunless Country believes also is that there can be unhealthy levels of sun exposure that can lead to issues we certainly don’t want.
Premature aging and wrinkles are one thing the sun can definitely cause. Overexposure can lead to weathering of the face and hands. Wrinkling of the neck and face is something not many people really desire in their older age.
Different people can tolerate different levels of sun before burning. We never recommend burning of the skin from overexposure from the sun. Therefore we do suggest that you protect yourself from overexposure to the sun and its potentially damaging rays.
But not all sunscreen is created equal. Most sunscreens on the supermarket shelves today contain high levels of contaminants that are harmful for human consumption. Spray sunscreens are sometime even inhaled by adults and especially children. Years and years of applications of these types of “protective layers” can cause unforeseen problems with health.
Our skin is the largest organ in the human body. Therefore, we need to be cautious as to what chemicals we readily allow our skin to come in contact with. Rubbing lotions, shampoos, soaps, shaving creams and yes…sunscreen can cause more harm than good if you’re not careful.
Products applied to our scalp and skin can be absorbed into the blood stream and endocrine system. These chemicals and substances can often disrupt our natural systems and cause too many health issues on here to even begin pointing out.
This is why we suggest if you are applying sunscreen to your self and your children especially that you need to be conscious of exactly what you’re putting on your and IN your body. This can be much more harmful to young children than adults so that’s why we suggest a good organic mineral based sunscreen. Our children are precious and we take every precaution to ensure that they not only get proper sun exposure, but that they’re also protected from the dangers of overexposure. When we do protect them from the sun we want to make sure that we aren’t applying chemicals to their skin that can cause more harm than good.
The Alba line of skin care products has long been a favorite of mine when it comes to keeping ingredients as natural as possible. You can check them out at local retailers and online. There are other comparable products out there for sure but my family trusts the line of skin care products at Alba.
